Drinking with the Dragons

Sarah Cook spent an unusual evening on Tuesday 8th March. She met Duncan Bannatyne, Theo Paphitis and Deborah Meaden at the Royal Courts of Justice in London for an evening of fine dining and conversation, along with a handful of other high profile business individuals. The evening was organised by the Make a Wish Charity.

“They were all absolutely lovely,” explained Sarah. “We talked about all sorts of things from Coconut Creatives to shoulder surgery. They each had a fantastic outlook on life, business and were thoroughly enjoyable company. Certain Coconut clients were also brought up in conversation which generated some unusual dragon interest in the franchise sector.”

With links such as these, who knows what future projects could be in the pipeline…

Sarah will be discussing more about her experience with the Dragons on the next Coconut Franchisor Marketing Workshop at the Langtry Manor in Bournemouth, 13th April. This workshop will focus on hot tips for franchise recruitment and look at ways franchisors can improve their franchise marketing during the individual 1 to 1 sessions in the afternoon.

Coconut Triumph at First Workshop

We had the very first Coconut Marketing Workshop on 9th Feb and it went even better than expected. There were 5 speakers in all and it was a very interactive day with franchisors, from a range of different sectors and from Franchisor newbies to the industry to a Franchisor that has been trading for 40 years!

Here’s some of the feedback we received:

“A really enjoyable event. Good content, presented by knowledgeable and enthusiastic individuals. Great location! A good opportunity to network and to learn more about the additional tools available to aid/ improve the recruitment process. Many thanks.”
Steve Calvert, Safeclean

“The workshop was absolutely fabulous. It was a day packed full with everything you need for your marketing plan – all the different elements. I’d really recommend anyone – be they a new franchisor or someone who’s been going for a long time – to come to a workshop, because they’ll get a lot out of it.”
Lisa Curtis, Rosemary Bookkeeping

“All the speakers were obviously experts in their field and were very thought provoking. If you are a franchisor and really want to step yourself up to the next level of professionalism, this is definitely the place to come and learn some extra tips that’ll really take you to a whole new height.”
Carl Jarvis, Concentric Lettings

“I found the day very useful, it was great to find out some more selling ideas and to gain focus on recruitment methods. The speakers were all very friendly and helpful. Lunch was amazing! Thank you.”
Nicky Kay, FitKid

The location was Langtry Manor in Bournemouth, which was built in 1877 by Edward VII for his mistress, the actress Lillie Langtry. I can honestly say it’s the nicest hotel I’ve been to in the city, packed full of history and rather lovely features. At lunchtime the waiter pointed out a small window above the dining room that Edward used as a peephole to size up the guests below and decide whether he wanted to join them for dinner! The waiter didn’t know whether there were any ghosts, but the receptionist told us there was a bit of supernatural activity…apparently Lillie has been seen wandering the grounds…! Ghost-hunter or otherwise, it’s well worth a visit if you’re in the area.

Having a giggle at lunchtime!

The next Workshop is on Weds 2nd March in Winchester and is already more than half booked up, as is the 13th April back at the Langtry Manor in Bournemouth… so it looks like we’ll be having another very enjoyable and helpful event focused on franchise recruitment.

Coconut comes face to face with Egg!

Sarah Cook was in London last week on a ‘perfect pitch’ workshop with Mike Harris, founder and creator of Egg, the Internet bank, First Direct and Mercury.

“The whole day was absolutely brilliant”, explains Sarah. “Mike was incredibly down to earth and spent the day with the audience of entrepreneurs working on creating, tailoring and tweaking their own 90 second business pitch which he calls The Perfect Pitch”.

Run by Triumphant events, the day was organised as part of a KPI programme (key person of influence) which helps shape entrepreneurs to be the leader in their particular market niche.

February’s Franchisor Workshop is now fully booked!

After announcing the first 3 Franchisor workshop dates, Coconut Creatives has been inundated with enquiries from franchisors eager to take advantage of this brand new opportunity to spend quality time with members of the Coconut Creatives marketing team.

Led by Chartered Marketer and franchise recruitment specialist, Sarah Cook, founder of Coconut Creatives, the day offers franchisors the chance to review their current strategy in a small group, looking at their current marketing activity. Workshop attendees will also hear from a selection of talented guest speakers covering branding, PR, copy writing, exhibiting techniques and video promotion through the morning session, before breaking out into 1 to 1 sessions in the afternoon.

A few places remain on 2nd March & 13th April in Bournemouth and Winchester.

The first of these workshops is being held on Wednesday 9th February, at a prestige venue in Dorset. There will be one every month, with the next two scheduled for Wednesday 2nd March and Wednesday 13th April.

The workshops include a fantastic line-up of speakers covering vital areas of franchise growth, development and recruitment. This is a unique opportunity to gain insight in a regular workshop environment and take away some really valuable intellectual property (usually reserved for one to one franchise projects!) to utilise within your own business.

These workshops will be led by Sarah, with presentations, guidance and advice from trusted experts in various fields related to franchise marketing, including:

• Emma Carter, owner and MD of Beyond Creative Thinking – a creative design agency that Sarah often works with on projects where clients need a style tweak or revamp.
• Adam Etheridge, owner of Aspect film & video – specialist in the filming and production of cutting-edge marketing videos. Sarah and Adam developed and successfully trialled a series of 3 minute video clips promoting franchise packages with the type of content that really grabs prospect attention. Adam and Sarah will be demonstrating these at the workshop and how you can recreate it within your business.
• An exhibition specialist to really give you the edge at exhibitions
• An intellectual property expert. If you’re thinking ‘a what?’ then you are not alone! Sarah will be teaching you how to utilise the latest thinking on IP to maximise the value of your franchise package and win more business
• Mystery shopping advice to tweak and refine your recruitment sales process
